Loooooong time no more posts

Huch, I can’t believe how long it has been since I made a last blog entry! You won’t imagine how much has happened ever since! Life led me to Ulan Bator, Mongolia. It’s a long story…

During all this time Mayari has kept running - that is, I have kept sending out all the products that have been ordered. But I haven’t done much more for my own little business (if you can call it a business).

In the last few months, I have partnered with Amandine to work as The Bulb design consulting. And I kept faithful to my principle of up- and recycling.

As you can see, Mayari won’t just disappear. Neither due to a move to another country, nor to a (this time longer) period of inactivity for new creations. The story goes on :)

Long time no hear

Sorry folks, I haven’t updated my blog in a long time. This has its reasons! I needed a retreat, sort of a sabbatical, an evaluation and reorientation. I’m going to be back in public and on the (online) market soon with a slightly different approach.

Mayari’s focus will be on co-designed or commissioned upcycled design-art works. As an artist I will also be open for any kind of collaboration with lovely, responsibly operating enterprises or educational institutes (giving workshops) in the field of upcycling (turning trash into treasure)!

I’m working on a new website! Please have patience and soon you’ll be able to check out all the new design-art works I have been inventing and creating whilst I was in the retreat! I can’t wait to share them with you!

recycling - upcycling - reusing

Finally Focused

Trascript

Ok, I’ll tell you what my problem is: FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS. First my my passion was DESIGN, then SUSTAINABLE DESIGN, now it’s UPCYCLING.

I’m a designer and fascinated by sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many things!

But now, at least I feel I can handle this topic (upcycling). It’s concrete and very close to my heart.

Market Research - upcycling

Transcript:

As an ambitious designer I went to the market on Sunday to make a “market research” for the word/idea “upcycling“.

I wondered how popular this idea is as opposed to recycling.

Here are the results:

Upcycling - 3 know, 23 don’t know

Recycling - 26 know, 0 don’t know.

As you can see, I’m on a BIG mission to make upcycling better known!

Oh yes. Most people then wanted to know what upcycling is! I made this sketch to explain it. I’ll make a better one soon and put it on this blog!

Upcycle against Climate Change

If you want to learn more about upcycling and see some examples check out this previous post.

This is a post that is part of the Blog Action Day.

tell, show, involve me

This is one of my favourite citations. It is by Confucius.

As I love to tell things visually, here is an illustration I made for the quote. I hope it makes you understand better.
